Luleå Hockey secured the spot in the playoffs by beating Fribourg-Gottéron 4-2 at home ice. The swedes are by that heading for their second CHL playoff in two years.
Fribourg-Gottéron had their backs against the wall and needed at least a point to keep the playoff hopes a live. Instead home team Luleå Hockey got off to a flying start scoring a quick double salvo in the first minutes of the game. The goal glut continued in the first period that ended 3-2 to the home team.
In the start of the second period Peter Cehlarik scored a goal to increase Luleå Hockeys lead to 4-2 which also was the last goal for the game. The home team had quite good control over the rest of the game that despite the lack of goals was quite entertaining with a physical game and also a handful of penalties.
The victory takes Luleå Hockey to the Champions Hockey League playoffs for the second time in two years and for the fifth time in five seasons of european club hockey.
